Rubal helps Kāinga Maha understand what a site can become and keeps that thinking connected to what's actually being built, drawing on years spent strengthening shelter and housing resilience in communities around the world.
She spent seven years working across built environment design, disaster risk reduction, and governance before joining Kāinga Maha, including as a Project Administrator with Habitat for Humanity Northern Region and as a Disaster Risk Reduction and Governance Fellow with Sphere India, where she helped coordinate shelter sector policy during Covid-19 and in the aftermath of cyclones Burevi and Amphan.
At Kāinga Maha, her work sits across two connected responsibilities: running planning and design case studies to test a site's development potential, and supporting Development and Project Managers across the organisation's construction pipeline, with a focus on streamlining how the development team works together. She brings particular strength in shaping the built environment for future growth while keeping community resilience and dignity front of centre, backed by strong communication skills that carry projects from early planning through to delivery.
She holds a Bachelor of Architecture from MBS School of Planning and Architecture in Delhi and a Master of Urban Design from the University of Auckland.
Outside of work, Rubal is a lifelong dancer who now finds movement through boxing, yoga, and hiking across New Zealand, and works as a public speaker and skills trainer passionate about growth mindset and empowerment.
